Closing Considerations

There are a lot of different styles of home safes out there, so it might be easy to get overwhelmed. From lock boxes, digital safes, water proof, fireproof, and even bio-metric safes that are popping up these days, it can be hard to identify what exactly you need.

Overall when it comes to choosing a good budget safe there are plenty of options out there depending on your needs. We recommend first asking yourself what kind of items you intend to lock up. If they are small important documents and other items, maybe a small fireproof safe would work best. If you have larger items, a good medium sized safe would be best to go with. Just please read the listings carefully because not all of these safes are fireproof, so if that is a deal breaker for you, make sure you pick an appropriate choice!

f you live in an area prone to flooding, we would definitely recommend a waterproof safe for you, some may live in areas where this is not a problem, so this might not apply to you.

Which Type of Safe is Best for Me?

As far as whether you need a lock box, digital safe, manual or bio-metric safe, this is all up to your personal preference and needs. Remember, if it’s a small and easily moved safe, there is always the change of theft during a burglary attempt. In general, the smaller and lighter the safe, the easier it would be for thieves to take it with them. If you live in an area known for crime, you might want to spend the extra money on a heavier, more rugged safe. The more difficult it is to move, the more protected you will be.

Conversely, if you are mainly looking for a travel safe, a lock box is easy to carry around you valuables, and they are typically lower in cost as well. So it’s never a bad idea to purchase a good well designed lock box for you valuable items.

In regards to a manual, digital, or bio-metric safe. This really comes down to personal preference. Bio-metric safes can be extraordinarily expensive, so if budget is your main concern, we would steer away from these. Otherwise most digital safes that we have covered, have a manual key entry override, so you can never go wrong with an option that has both.

We highly recommend that everyone protect their valuables with a well-built safe. Tragedy can strike at any time, whether it be while you’re at work, or on vacation. You truly can’t put a price on peace of mind,  so it’s important to keep your items secure. Even if you just purchase the most inexpensive safe you can find, it’s better than leaving your things out unsecured.
